This stage follows the coast of the Gulf of Venice. Although relatively short, it takes in three different countries – Italy, Slovenia and Croatia – some unforgettable cities, kilometres of golden sand and some world class attractions. After taking in all that Venice has to offer, visitors meet the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aquileia, one of the wealthiest cities of the Roman Empire. A short ride away is Trieste, the main port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Pass through the inviting clear waters of Slovenia, before entering the remaining Croatian parts of the stage. This region has much to offer, including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč.
