Close to the Swiss-Italian border, EuroVelo 5 reaches lake Como, running along the coast and a waterfront promenade. Beyond museums, gardens, villas and theatres, the city is located at the foothills of the Alps, and rich with ancient churches, introducing visitors to the pilgrimages of the Middle Ages. Milan is located in a flat land at the heart of the Po River valley, halfway between the foothill of the Alps and the Po river. It is the economic capital of Italy, mainly known for design, fashion and music, Milan also has an important Medieval and Renaissance era heritage.
Contains the tracks of the whole stage, including well developed sections but also parts of the route under development or at the planning stage.
Contains only parts of the stage which are either developed, developed with signs or certified – i.e. sections that are ready to cycle.
