From southern Andalusia and through the Mediterranean-like shores of the Algarve riding up to Lisbon, you will discover a festival of warm colours, blue waters, historical tales of sea heroes of old and stunning roads for both the families and the braves of heart. This route calls for a gentle appreciation of people, landscapes and the simple pleasures of two-wheel riding. But you could also just dawdle through food-fuelled guilty pleasures or visit some of the richest heritage sites in Europe. A superb weather makes this section of the route suitable for an all-year holiday break.

Development status
  • Certified Section of at least 300 km that has successfully undergone the certification process in line with ECF’s European Certification Standard. It is the highest quality level on the EuroVelo network
  • Developed with EuroVelo signs Developed route (see category below) with continuous signing along the route, incorporating EuroVelo route information panels.
  • Developed Route developed for cyclists and signed in line with the respective national standard (i.e. it is part of a local, regional or national cycle network). There must also be a website providing information to users. Developed route can be heterogeneous in terms of infrastructure: type of cycling infrastructure, surface, width, gradients, etc
  • Under development Route containing sections that require further development (e.g. stretches on public highways with high levels of traffic). Cyclists are advised to use public transportation to skip these non-developed stretches.
  • Planning Undeveloped route with no detailed information publicly available on the Internet. The itinerary communicated is a proposal for the best possible option currently available. It may also contain dangerous sections. Cyclists are advised to use public transportation to skip these non-developed stretches.

Huelva Train Station

The train station is located in the south of the city. From here there are three medium distance trains daily to Seville, one fast long distance train a day to Madrid via La Palma del Contado and Córdoba, and one medium distance trains a day to Jabugo and Sierra de Aracena, which continue north to Zafra and Extremadura.

Huelva Bus Station

Huelva's bus station is in the centre opposite the tourist office, at Calle Doctor Rubio, 902 114 494. Most services are run by the Damas or the Avanza bus companies. There is a company called Flixbus,which traveling to Faro Airport in Portugal.

Ayamonte Bus Station

The station is located at the access to Ayamote at the entrance from the N 431 road, near the Guardia Civil headquarters, and five minutes from the Plaza de la Ribera, one of the most emblematic squares of the village.

Lepe Bus Station

Located in Av. de Andalucia, 53, with intercity connections to cities such as Seville, Huelva, or Ayamonte and international bus connections to Portugal (Tavira).

Gibraleon Bus Station

Renfe Media Distancia services stop at this station and their main destinations are the cities of Huelva and Jabugo. Another MD continues to Zafra at weekends and there you can change trains and reach destinations such as Mérida, Cáceres, Plasencia, Talavera de la Reina and Madrid.
