Deze etappe begint in het historische centrum van Roermond en passeert Noord-Limburg, langs het drakendorp Beesel waar om de 7 jaar de legende van St. George en de draak wordt gespeeld. Een knipoog naar deze legende is het blow-up kunstwerk dat je bij Beesel zult zien. Dit is één van de tien blow-up kunstwerken langs de gehele Limburgse Maas. Na Grave bereik je een gebied dat vroeger overstroomd was toen het waterpeil in de Maas te hoog was om te voorkomen dat inwoners van nabijgelegen steden natte voeten kregen. De eindbestemming van de etappe, Den Bosch, staat bekend als een prachtige vestingstad vol monumenten en biedt onderdak aan vele nationaal bekende culturele evenementen. Na een dag in het zadel biedt het veel gezellige restaurants en cafés om te verkennen.

Development status
  • Certified Section of at least 300 km that has successfully undergone the certification process in line with ECF’s European Certification Standard. It is the highest quality level on the EuroVelo network
  • Developed with EuroVelo signs Developed route (see category below) with continuous signing along the route, incorporating EuroVelo route information panels.
  • Developed Route developed for cyclists and signed in line with the respective national standard (i.e. it is part of a local, regional or national cycle network). There must also be a website providing information to users. Developed route can be heterogeneous in terms of infrastructure: type of cycling infrastructure, surface, width, gradients, etc
  • Under development Route containing sections that require further development (e.g. stretches on public highways with high levels of traffic). Cyclists are advised to use public transportation to skip these non-developed stretches.
  • Planning Undeveloped route with no detailed information publicly available on the Internet. The itinerary communicated is a proposal for the best possible option currently available. It may also contain dangerous sections. Cyclists are advised to use public transportation to skip these non-developed stretches.

The "Fietsers Welkom!" label is an initiative of Stichting Landelijk Fietsplatform and indicates cycling friendly restaurants, accommodations and campsites. It is renewed every year. The services can be seen on the interactive map together with all LF routes and cycling nodes.

Accomodations for holiday cyclists

In the region of Flanders, there is currently no specific label but the welcome of cyclists is very natural. However, you can find 'Accomodations for holiday cyclists' (or "Logies op maat van vakantiefietsers" in Flemish) where cyclists are welcomed with open arms. The hosts know what it means to be the perfect stopping place for holiday cyclists and offer the following services: one-night stay, a safe and dry bicycle shed, the possibility to dry and air clothes, a basic bicycle repair kit and bicycle pump, a first aid kit. The following website provides a routeplanner with bicycle-friendly services accomodations. Those accomodations were selected – by self-assessment – for the Flemish iconic cycle routes (see logo).

Whether travelling along the Vennbahn, or discovering the region’s varied landscapes, cyclists can rely on bed+bike partners for a comfortable and welcoming stay.
