EuroVelo 4 Central Europe Route

Sometimes it feels like the North Sea wind pushes you all the way along this flat route from the French border to the border with The Netherlands! EuroVelo 4 allows you to explore the Flemish coastline. The route passes through Nieuwpoort, where you can visit the King Albert Monument and learn about the 1914 Battle of the Yser. It then continues to Oostende, known for its long beach and promenade. Finally, it takes you through the Zwin nature park in Knokke-Heist, also known as ‘the international bird airport’.

Development status
  • Certified Section of at least 300 km that has successfully undergone the certification process in line with ECF’s European Certification Standard. It is the highest quality level on the EuroVelo network

  • Planning Undeveloped route with no detailed information publicly available on the Internet. The itinerary communicated is a proposal for the best possible option currently available. It may also contain dangerous sections. Cyclists are advised to use public transportation to skip these non-developed stretches.

National EuroVelo Coordination Centre

Door het ontwikkelen van gepersonaliseerde oplossingen die de overgang naar de fiets vergemakkelijken en stimuleren, draagt vzw Pro Velo bij aan een hogere levenskwaliteit. Sinds 1992 ontwikkelt Pro Velo oplossingen op maat om mensen te helpen en ertoe aan te zetten om op fietsen over te stappen. Hun mobiliteitsexperts ondersteunen overheden, organisaties en burgers. De vereniging verbetert het imago van fietsen en begeleidt toekomstige fietsers, jong en oud, op de weg.

Visit Flanders
