Starting at the Czech/Polish border, the route initially crosses the Jeseníky Mountains to reach the Morava river floodplains. From there you will soon arrive at Olomouc, which is an important historic town and a UNESCO site. Waiting south of Olomouc is the Moravian carst – an intriguing area filled with caves - and the lively city of Brno, the capital of South Moravia. From Brno onwards, the route is pretty flat as it makes its way through forests with occasional stops at historic monuments. The medieval town of Mikulov with its castle, Jewish quarter and cemetery is a must-see on the way. Mikulov is set at the foot of the Palava hills - a landscape protected area, with numerous vineyards.
