From the Alps to the Mediterranean, EuroVelo 17 – Rhone Cycle Route in France (ViaRhôna) follows the Rhône River on a journey steeped in history, from Gallo-Roman times to today. This 815 km route reveals a valley shaped by centuries, brought to life through encounters with artisans, producers, and fellow cyclists. Ride through Savoie’s wild landscapes, Lyon’s ancient Roman heritage, the dramatic Ardèche Gorges, and the untamed Camargue delta. More than a cycle path, it’s an odyssey through 2,000 years of culture, nature, and gastronomy: from Bugey’s truffles to the Rhone Valley’s renowned wines and Camargue’s bulls. With detours and activities along the way, ViaRhôna invites exploration, discovery, and shared memories, whether riding solo, with family, or friends.
